A cool breeze across the land
I start this day full of hope.
I was away a few days attending the funeral of my Uncle in Miami. The ceremony was one that celebrated his life for being a good hearted man who served his community and loved his family. It was a very hot and humid day.
But at one point when the Rabbi was speaking about how we should be happy for him and happy for us that we knew him, a nice cool breeze blew over us. I felt that it was an affirmation or basically life saying “Amen” to that point.
The past year and recent months have been very difficult for us here and most Americans as we watch the troubling events caused in large part by out of control greedy Corporations and their Republican servants. Today I have seen the people begin to awaken and rise.
All of us here have known that things are very wrong and need to be changed and changed now. We all have been working for and wondering about a way to awaken the people to the need to fight for this change together. As the Occupy Wall Street protests began many of us worked together to post the story all over and contact the Media to break through their blackout of the news. Now we see what I feel are the fruits of your labor. You all worked together and united as one voice to make the media do its’ job! From CNN to ABC and MSNBC the storie is in the headlines of the tv news and the peoples voices are being heard! People in cities from Los Angeles to New York and Miami are showing up and speaking out to say ENOUGH! We are the People! We are the 99% and we demand to be heard. We demand justice and dignity. We are the Job Creators! We are the workers, the parents and grandparents and the students who will run this Country today and tomorrow. We will not allow the greed of the few to crush the needs of the many!
It is as though a cool and wonderful breeze has blown over the land, in recognition of your work and the work of our members like Hirak Pati and others who joined the march. A cool and wonderful breeze in reply to our calls for justice, as if to say to the people Amen, Amen!
